TsingBus RIDE THE NTHU SHUTTLE WITH ABA

NTHU’s official timetable only lists departure times for the terminals.
For every stop in between, you used to be guessing.

Chapter I

Every hill has a path,
and every path has a bus

Features at a glance

Next bus, bus position, the full timetable—TsingBus puts everything about the campus shuttle in one place.

Where this started: a two-stop timetable that’s hard to rely on

The NTHU campus shuttle calls at the North Gate, General Building II, the women’s dormitory, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the TSMC Building, the College of Education, Fenglin Lane and more. Yet the official timetable lists only the departure time at the North Gate and the pass-through time at the TSMC Building.

So, what’s the problem right now?

In other words, picture a train from Taichung to Taipei whose timetable lists only the Taichung departure. Anyone waiting in Miaoli, Hsinchu or Taoyuan is left guessing.

Third Brother the fox, with a bump on his head after missing the bus

So here’s our answer—

Next bus: pick two stops and let it do the rest

Choose where you are and where you’re going, and the app tells you how many minutes until the next bus. GPS can snap you to the nearest stop, and a swap button between the two turns the return trip into a single tap.

Status labels such as Arriving, Departing, Last bus has left and No service today tell you whether to run, wait, or start walking.

Bus position: read it like a metro map

An abstract map of the campus network, with estimated bus positions moving along it as small icons—red for the red line, green for the green line, orange for the inter-campus shuttle—so one glance tells you which line is running.

Timetable: a time for every single stop

Starting from the data the university publishes, we estimate the missing stops and assemble a complete timetable for the day. The campus shuttle and the inter-campus shuttle are separate systems, and the app keeps them separate too.

Widgets and Wear OS: no need to open the app

Put a next-bus widget on your home screen—wide, large or a small square—plus a widget with rotating Tsing Hua slogans. On a Wear OS watch, the next bus is a flick of the wrist away.

Chapter II

The climb wears you down;
the answer is Aba

Aba & Third Brother

Next up: a new friend who just placed 142nd in the QS marathon!

Hi! I’m Aba

I know Tsing Hua’s buses inside out (probably)!Aba · Your TsingBus Guide

Aba is your guide in TsingBus, and a panda with a bit of an attitude. He lives inside the app, with a room, moods and thoughts of his own—and a little brother he teases and comforts in equal measure: Third Brother.

Campus ghost stories and lunchtime chatter about what to eat—that’s Aba.

Drop by for a chat whenever you like. He knows a few campus ghost stories, and around lunchtime he’s always up for debating what to grab to eat.

Aba lives in a world every bit as real as ours. The seasons turn, day becomes night, and Aba lives right along with them.

Aba waits for the bus with you; the bus waits while you keep Aba company.

Keep Aba company while you wait, and he’ll tell you what’s been on his mind around campus lately.

He also remembers what the two of you have been through—how long you’ve known each other, how many rounds you’ve played. When you reach certain milestones, he’ll come and talk to you about it.

Play with Aba and Third Brother!

A little game for while you wait. Bop Third Brother for points, lose points for bopping Aba, and whatever you do, don’t hit the bomb. The weather changes how each round plays, and Aba Coins sometimes pop out of the holes—save them up to furnish his room.

Score high enough and you’ll land on the campus leaderboard, up against every NTHU student on the board!

Aba sparkling with happiness

Every day is a new day spent with Aba!

Aba has new lines every day. He’ll wish you a happy birthday when the day comes, and now and then he and Third Brother get into something serious—like whether hard work alone really gets you into a top university.

Some days he isn’t even home—off to the Taipei Zoo to see Yuan Zai, cramming at the library, or drafted as a mascot for freshman orientation camp. He’ll tell you all about it when he gets back.

Aba and Third Brother sitting happily together

Checking the bus is free. So is hanging out with Aba.

The people who ride the campus shuttle are mostly NTHU students, teachers and first-time visitors. All the main bus features are free, and so is visiting Aba’s room and playing his game.

Chapter III

Where is the bus, you ask?
Aba points to the next one

3

Open bus position

Tap into the route map to see roughly which stop the estimated bus has reached.

4

Add a widget

Put the next-bus widget on your home screen, or raise your wrist and check your Wear OS watch—no need to open the app.
